Mission Statement:

We will provide education to even the most remote community in Zambia by providing that community with a certified teacher.

Zambia’s Scholarship Fund

At-A-Glance

VISION: To increase feelings of self-worth, confidence, dignity, motivation, enthusiasm, optimism among illiterate Zambian citizens.

EDUCATION:  Education is a top priority for the Zambian people, 90% of whom live in extreme poverty. Although they have no running water, electricity or even (in many cases) food to eat, every community builds a school from homemade bricks, even if it interferes with the harvest. The school is the only building in the community, besides the huts they sleep in. However, if a student wishes to attend high school that is a different story, high school education is not free. Currently unemployment soars at an unbelievable 97 % in the Northern Province of Zambia. Because of this lack of financial support only 8 % of Zambians are able to attend high school and only 3 % college.

OVERVIEW: The Zambia’s Scholarship Fund provides a self-sustaining circle which is a solution to the problems of education. The solutions are simple, that is, we encourage elementary students to excel in school, while extending to them an  opportunity to attend high school and then extend an invitation to high school students to become teachers by providing them an opportunity to attend a two year teachers college, lastly to support those graduated teachers with a paid income. Graduated teachers are paid a monthly wage to teach at a rural elementary school in need of a teacher, thus the cycle is complete.

A UNIQUE FUND:  Since we are supporting existing schools, no money is needed to improve structure, etc… For each dollar spent, the number of lives affected is the highest.  Instead of building a million-dollar school, employing foreign volunteers, and helping a few hundred students.  This fund is providing an opportunity for thousands to better their lives on a very minimal amount.  This fund operates on a strictly volunteer basis, there are no paid officers or American paid employees.  This fund is committed to putting every dollar a person donates towards the people of Zambia.

These are some of the schools on our 'Adopt-A-School' program. To learn more about the 'adopt a school' program see our menu under "how you can help".  Through the 'adopt a school' program certified teachers in Zambia can have a paying job and teach elementary school children who have never had a real teacher before.
